Our initial training program was aimed at the electroplating industry where we offer a 5 day course for senior line operatives as well as supervisory and management staff. Since launching this popular course, some 230 trainees have benefited.
We have started developing a DVD self-help training program further simplifying some of the concepts so that personnel who do not have the advantage of a strong high school education can still appreciate the principles involved in chemistry or electro-chemistry.
Developed as part of the Danida OHS Project, SAMFA is proud to announce the successful launch of our new one-day training seminar for metal finishing tank hands including powder coaters. It's objective is to assist employees to carry out their work responsibilities in a safe and health conscious manner. We presented the first of these in Gauteng, KZN and the Cape during November 2007 and were gratified to record an enthusiastic response. Another round has been arranged for 2008. SAMFA has developed a powder coating training course aimed at floor level staff. The pilot course started in Cape Town during February 2008 and has met with wide acceptance by the industry. This course will be rolled out to the other provinces during the course of the year.
